The Community Outreach Educator plays a vital role in the Intervention & Prevention - Calaveras Crisis Center, working under the supervision of the Service Coordinator. This position focuses on delivering crucial education on DV/SA to school-aged children, their parents, and community members throughout Calaveras County. Engaging extensively with local schools, the educator will take charge of program development and presentation, ensuring the content is both informative and impactful. Responsibilities include detailed documentation of all educational presentations and attendance while maintaining up-to-date educational materials.

By raising awareness and providing essential support, the Community Outreach Educator contributes to the mission of helping victims and survivors while promoting prevention education in the community. To excel as a Community Outreach Educator at the Intervention & Prevention - Calaveras Crisis Center, candidates should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with at least two years of experience working with children in an educational context. A minimum of one year of experience in providing workshops or public presentations is essential for effectively conveying sensitive topics. Strong interpersonal skills are critical, as the role involves interacting with a diverse range of individuals from various racial, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Proficiency in relevant software and tools will enhance program development and documentation processes. Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for education and advocacy, coupled with the ability to connect with and engage audiences, fostering a supportive environment for learning about domestic violence and sexual assault prevention.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 years' experience working with children in education
• 1 year experience providing workshops or presenting in a public setting
• experience working with a variety of people from different racial cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds regularly
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Valid California Driver's license and current proof of insurance
• Criminal record check
• Must successfully complete DV/SA advocate training within 6 months of hire
