Job Description We are seeking an experienced Construction Accountant to join a thriving Real Estate and Construction company in Roseville. This is a contract opportunity with potential for hire! The Construction Accountant will be responsible for managing all aspects of the construction project accounting processes from start to finish, including project setup, bank draws, subcontractor payments, and project close-out. This role involves preparing monthly reporting, participating in construction loan closings, permanent loan conversions, and cost certification processes. Salary: $75,000-$85,000 DOE plus up to 16% bonus.
The ideal candidate will have a background in construction accounting, the ability to handle project-related accounting functions, and strong job costing experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Loan Draw Requests:
- Accurately prepare monthly loan draw funding requests.
- Obtain approval of draw requests, submit to lenders, and follow up for timely funding by the bank.
Subcontractor Billing and Payments:
- Process subcontractor monthly billings and ensure timely payments.
- Communicate with subcontractors and vendors to resolve issues.
- Receive and review lien releases and gather certified payroll for review, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Monthly Reporting:
- Prepare financial statements, bank and balance sheet account reconciliations, and job cost reports for various entities.
- Year-End Tax Preparation:
- Prepare year-end tax return workpapers for external CPA firms.
Bank Account Management:
- Maintain balances in bank accounts and cash available to draw from construction loans.
Journal Entries:
- Prepare and record journal entries on all necessary activities.
Project Close-Out:
- Close out construction jobs upon completion.
- Retrieve information required for final cost certification and submittal of the Placed-in-Service Package.
- Retrieve information for capital contributions requests and loan conversions.
Bond Arbitrage Reporting:
- Manage bond arbitrage reporting.
Construction Accounting 1099:
- Complete and maintain construction accounting 1099s.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2 years of work experience in a similar or related accounting position.
- Four (4) year college degree and/or equivalent work experience in accounting.
- Experience in accounting for a general contractor is desired.
- Knowledge of lien laws and prevailing wage is helpful.
- Excellent customer service with a professional demeanor.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to process various types of transactions quickly and accurately.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent follow-through skills.
