Job Description

As Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator , you will be dealing with a group of 60 – 100 r bus operators providing service on regularly scheduled routes as well as single and multi-day charters. Established schedules and work assignments must be compliant with federal laws as well as promote safety and customer service. Our Dispatch department is transitioning to a 24 hour operations and although training will start on the day shift this position will be a 2nd shift including weekends and some flexibility is required. The shift may will be 4- 10 hour shifts of 5 -8 hour shifts. 

DUTIES:

As Logistics Specialist you will reports to the Operations Logistics Specialist/Scheduler and is responsible for the drivers being in full uniform and on time. We have a diverse group of drivers so communication skills is must.
Established schedules and work assignments must be 

• Comply with federal laws as well as promote safety and customer service.
• Develop and maintain a positive relationship with all drivers and support staff. .
• Understand DOT Hours of Service and review logs and address any compliance issues. 
• Fairly observe and review drivers performance
• Handle accidents and complaints in a timely manner.
• Assure enforcement of all rules and policies as provided by the President and COO.

EXPECTATIONS Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator:

• The Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator shall possess or have the ability to possess a Commercial Chauffeur’ License (Passenger Endorsement) within 90 days of employment. The Logistics Specialist/Scheduler should possess the skills to be able to assess training needs for a diversified work force.
• The Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator shall be a detail-oriented person.
• The Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator shall have the ability to learn and utilize computer software related to the job.
• The Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator shall have an aptitude for solving scheduling puzzles and developing alternative solutions.
• The Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator should possess skills in maximizing his or her potential to promote productivity and positive morale.
• The Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator should be a person with a solid understanding and respect for the differences of roles between management, supervisory and line personnel.
• The Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator should have the ability to interface with all driver employees as well as various positions throughout the organization.
• The Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator should have the ability to command the respect of his or her peers within the organization.
• The Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator should be a person possessing those traits of honesty and integrity, creativity and flexibility that are essential to the position.

REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma is required. Experience in transportation logistics is preferred and will offset a lack of an Associate degree. Must demonstrate qualities of leadership and administrative ability. Ability to plan, initiate, direct, and carry out short and long-term programs.
