EastRise Credit Union is searching for a Fraud Analyst! The primary duties include analyzing account fraud alerts within the Credit Union’s monitoring software and reviewing other sources of data to identify and limit potential fraudulent actions within member accounts or elsewhere at the Credit Union. Responsible for determining when an investigation is required and investigates cases of fraud involving use of digital payment/service channels, debit and credit cards, account abuse, check forgery, elder abuse, identity theft, new accounts, and other. Collaborates with other areas of the Credit Union to assist with investigations as needed and guides member facing staff through handling fraudulent situations. Escalates complex fraud cases or cases poses a more immediate threat of financial loss/material harm to the Credit Union. Prepares Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) as required. Maintain knowledge of fraud trends and best practices for managing fraud in the industry. Mitigate financial loss to the credit union.

Specific duties include :

  • Investigate suspected fraud cases. Manage case load independently and ensure timely and comprehensive investigations. Prepare SARs as required by regulation and/or the Credit Union. Guide and interview members via telephone (as instructed by immediate supervisor).
  • Triage account fraud alerts daily to identify fraudulent activity and limit financial loss to members and/or the Credit Union. Review various sources of data outside of the primary fraud monitoring software to monitor unconventional member account behavior.
  • Provide support to the various business units of the credit union on fraud related matters, including member facing staff when faced with a fraudulent situation.
  • Recommend updates to policies, procedures, and system configurations to help mitigate risk.
  • Prepare documents for response to legal requests and ensure timely response. Assist Senior Fraud Analyst with response actions as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of fraud trends and common schemes in the industry. Maintain knowledge of fraud management best practices to mitigate the risk of loss to members and to the credit union.
  • Actively participate in team meetings. Share information and make suggestions for improvements to fraud management operations. Escalate any risks or findings to immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the development of and conducting fraud identification and prevention related training for staff.

Qualifications :

  • A minimum of one year up to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience, such as fraud and/or BSA experience within a banking environment.
  • Current knowledge of federal, state, and regulatory laws relating to financial crimes preferred.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team (self-motivated).
  • Obtains and maintains required certification(s) in Financial Crimes. Designation may be dictated by Credit Union.
