Pay Grade: Job Description: The Center for Energy Studies is looking for a Research Associate to provide basic assistance in support, perform a variety of complex tasks, and who will utilize advanced knowledge to support the Center's research projects.
Job Responsibilities: Research Associate 1- Assist with data cleaning, maintenance, and updating of CES energy-related databases and spreadsheets. RA will learn to use basic statistical analysis tools such as Excel, Stata, and R. This includes the documentation of data preparation and analysis procedures used to ensure data quality and reproducibility. They will also provide basic assistance with detailed metadata to help other researchers understand the data sets they are working with. (30%)
- Assist with CES outreach, update presentations geared towards stakeholders and other miscellaneous tasks. This also includes coordination support of the Energy Information Center, CES website, and supporting the business manager & communications on an as-needed basis. (25%)
- Participate in research projects by assisting other research members as they conduct literature reviews, collect and validate data, and perform analysis at the direction of faculty. The RA will also assist in the preparation of research reports and publications. (20%)
- Become familiar with and learn to work with ArcGIS or other GIS software to create, edit, and analyze shapefiles and geodatabases. The candidate will assist with the creation of maps and visualizations that effectively communicate spatial data insights. (20%)
- Other duties as assigned. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications: Research Associate 1: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Research Associate 2: Bachelor's degree in a related field and 1 year of related work experience.
Research Associate 3: Master's degree in a related field OR Bachelor's degree and 2 years of full time work experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in economics, statistics, or related fields with 2 years of related work experience. Undergraduate coursework on econometrics is preferred.
Physical Demands: Physical ability and eye-hand coordination necessary to use a computer terminal, copier, telephone, and other standard office equipment; ability to sit in the same position for extended periods (5.5+ hours a day) at a time using continuous hand motions when entering data into the computer system.
