About Us:

Strategic Services, Inc. has been a trusted SAP recruitment agency for over 20 years, specializing in connecting top-tier SAP professionals with leading organizations. We are partnering with a prominent pharmaceutical company in Newark, NJ, to find an experienced SAP IT Director who will drive the company's SAP initiatives in an industry with stringent regulations and critical operational demands.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly experienced SAP IT Director with deep expertise in the pharmaceutical industry. The candidate will lead the strategic development, implementation, and ongoing support of SAP solutions tailored to the unique needs of the pharmaceutical sector. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth integration of SAP systems across all functional areas, including manufacturing, compliance, supply chain, finance, and quality assurance, adhering to strict industry regulations like FDA and GMP.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the development, deployment, and support of SAP solutions, ensuring alignment with the pharmaceutical industry's regulatory requirements, including FDA compliance, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and quality management processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams—including manufacturing, R&D, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs—to evaluate, implement, and enhance SAP-driven business process improvements.
  • Team Leadership: Manage a team of SAP experts, providing mentorship, coaching, and direction, ensuring the team is aligned with pharmaceutical-specific operational goals.
  • Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and regulatory bodies, ensuring the SAP systems support compliance, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Project Management: Oversee SAP project budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and within scope. Manage upgrades and system enhancements that comply with industry standards.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of pharmaceutical industry trends and SAP innovations, such as SAP S/4HANA and SAP Advanced Track and Trace for Pharmaceuticals (ATTP), applying these to improve business processes, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure compliance.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Pharma-Specific Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in SAP implementation and support, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally within the pharmaceutical industry. A thorough understanding of pharma-specific processes such as batch management, serialization, regulatory reporting, and supply chain traceability is essential.
  • SAP Expertise: Solid understanding of SAP modules like finance, procurement, supply chain, and human resources, with hands-on experience in SAP S/4HANA, SAP ATTP, SAP Quality Management (QM), and compliance-related solutions.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Proven experience managing SAP solutions within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, ensuring compliance with FDA, GMP, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to lead teams and projects in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated success in solving complex challenges, managing high-pressure environments, and adapting to the rapid changes in both technology and regulatory landscapes.
