Job Description What you'll be able to do: - Work with the hardware design team to develop new power conversion and distribution system designs with optimized performance, reliability and cost.
- Closely collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, testing, manufacturing, and quality teams, to ensure that designs encompass DFX principles and meet quality standards.
- Develop engineering prototypes using rapid prototyping processes and coordinate building and testing for functionality and performance.
- Engage with suppliers from concept phase to evaluate processes and materials based on manufacturability, quality, cost, reliability, and functional requirements. Provide further support on design improvements to resolve quality issues related to fabrication (die casting, injection moulding, sheet metal forming, etc)
- Participate in development of assembly and test fixtures for all product phases.
- Develop mechanical functions specifications, support with test planning, execution and documentation based on the design requirements and regulations.
- Mentor and work with junior engineers and technicians
Responsibilities The minimum requirements we seek: - B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and releasing electro-mechanical components and systems for volume production.
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, materials, and tool design (die casting, injection moulding, sheet metal forming, CNC machining, etc)
- High level of expertise and proficiency with Catia, Enovia, or similar tools.
- Experience in application of GD&T and tolerance stack analyses.
- High attention to detail ensuring organization, accuracy, and quality of design work.
- Ability to review and act upon simulation and test results to improve the design.
- An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team.
- Hands-on experience prototyping, building, testing, and launching electromechanical systems.
- Strong engineering fundamentals, and ability to apply broadly to vehicle systems and manufacturing processes.
Preferred Requirements: - M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in electric vehicle technologies and components such as power conversion electronics, battery packs, traction inverters and HV power distribution systems
- FEA and thermal modelling experience
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to cross functional teams and stakeholders.
- A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement.
