SUMMARY :
The position serves as a team work leader who is responsible for assuring the task assignments are completed.They are involved with training in competency of tasks performed by the group, task revisions, projects, and general monitoring of the task environment.The incumbent works daily, weekly and monthly reports to assure quality performance standards are completed.
Assembles and maintains supplies and equipment, disinfects patient and specialized equipment, collects equipment from units or may disinfect equipment on site, receives requests via telephone or printer for equipment or supplies, delivers to OR procedures area, ASC, WSS and ER areas, as needed.Provides on-site support for the reprocessing of surgical instruments and sets to contracted facilities in compliance with the Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, and AORN standards and facility's goals and policies.Provides daily work guidance and on-the-job training for other technicians.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Supports daily operations of all activities that relate to the reprocessing of reusable medical supplies and instrumentation including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage processes with all ser professional standards and regulations.
Inspects patient equipment and assesses for functionality; enters work orders for repairs into computer system.
Directs and assists the daily task assignments for completion of work each day
Prepares, reviews and revises documents to meet all quality standards
Monitors and maintains training requirements to assure completion of facility and department standards
Assures that inventory activities and reports are monitored weekly
Assists with immediate need requests from OR, ASC and WSS daily.Responds to STAT requests timely and accurately.
Orders and restocks instrumentation, equipment and supplies as needed, and regularly reviews forEnsures cleanliness and sterility are maintained during transport.
Operates & understands the sterilization process. Loads and unloads sterilizers according to departmental procedure.
Conducts and records mechanical, chemical, and biological monitoring of the steam autoclaves.Recognizes improper functions and reports findings.
Maintains detailed records for each sterilizer; identifying the operator, load contents, lot numbers, monitoring results, temperature, exposure, and time in accordance with AAMI, AORN, and CMS standards.
Maintains inventory systems, inventories and stocks storage areas and specialty carts; removes outdated or other unused supplies for proper disposition.
Trains new personnel on procedures and provides informal guidance to coworkers; ensures work is completed in a timely and efficient fashion; observes performance to provide input to management for evaluations or other personnel actions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.Completion of a Scrub Technician program preferred.
EXPERIENCE :Two (2) years of sterile processing experience, preferably in an acute care setting. Knowledge of all regulatory standards of CMS.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION : Must obtain one of the following certifications within 6 months of hire:Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
