STANDARD HOURS: 40 hours per week. Typical hours Monday - Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Flexibility required to include other evening and/or weekend hours, as necessary.

SALARY RANGE: $115,533 - $128,370 per year

  • Salaries/Wages for all finalists (internal and external) will be placed within the range based upon education, experiences, current wages, and internal equity.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Dean of Teaching Excellence and Innovation will lead a comprehensive model of faculty development, technology innovation, curriculum and course design, and student assessment. The dean will support a culture of excellence and continuous improvement by providing responsive support, training, and development that meets the unique needs of faculty, programs, and divisions. This position will strengthen the college’s commitment to innovative curriculum and instruction practices that harness the potential of improving student teaching and learning through Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality. The dean will lead and/or align technology innovation across the college in alignment with the strategic priorities of the college. As a member of the Academic Leadership Team and Leadership Council, the dean contributes instructional expertise in decision making, that supports the College’s mission, vision, and goals while promoting an environment of excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Innovative Leadership and Vision: Serve as the driving force behind the college's innovative agenda, leading a team of forward-thinking professionals to develop and implement cutting-edge strategies that enhance teaching, learning, and workforce development. The Dean’s visionary leadership will guide the creation and integration of advanced technologies, particularly AI, across various departments, ensuring the college remains at the forefront of educational innovation.
  • AI Integration and Development: Spearhead initiatives to incorporate AI into the college's curriculum and operational practices. Design and oversee programs that leverage AI to improve instructional methods, enhance student learning experiences, and streamline administrative processes. Collaborate with industry partners, for example, Microsoft and Titletown Tech, to incorporate cutting edge technological advancements and apply them effectively within the college environment.
  • Professional Development and Training: Lead, develop, and assess comprehensive professional development programs aimed at equipping faculty and staff with the skills and knowledge required to utilize high impact practices, culturally responsive teaching, open educational resources, the learning management system, open pedagogy, AI in teaching and learning, and other emerging technologies effectively. Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation, ensuring that all members of the college community are well-prepared to adapt to and benefit from technological advancements.
  • Faculty Evaluation: Design a model for providing faculty development and evaluation, technology support, and curriculum/course design support.
  • Teaching & Learning Excellence: In collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, lead the strategic direction for teaching and learning innovation, programming and service delivery aligned with organizational goals.
  • Curriculum and Instruction Enhancement: Lead efforts to integrate emerging technologies into the curriculum, enhancing instructional methods and student learning experiences. Work closely with faculty to design and implement innovative teaching practices, develop AI-driven course content, and create experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for the future workforce. Ensure the curriculum remains relevant and responsive to technological advancements, fostering a dynamic and engaging educational environment.
  • Strategic Partnerships and Innovation Liaison: Establish and maintain strong partnerships with industry leaders, technology firms, and other educational institutions to drive innovation at the college. Actively participate in conferences, events, and professional gatherings to seek out and implement innovative solutions that enhance the college's technological and educational practices. Serve as the college’s representative and liaison, ensuring the institution stays connected to the latest advancements and trends in emerging technologies.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Collaborate with academic deans and associate deans to support the Teaching and Learning Center as a partner in ensuring student success and assessment of learning for the continuous improvement of instructional processes through the program review process.
  • Leadership: Participate in the Academic Affairs and Workforce Development Leadership Team and Deans Council to provide input on academic policy and programs and other matters related to the College.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement efforts that ensure operational efficiencies and maximize institutional effectiveness.
  • Talent Management: Hire, mentor, and supervise assigned employees. Responsible for the performance management, coaching, and ongoing growth and development of direct reports.
  • Financial Oversight: Lead planning, budgeting, and resource allocation efforts to maximize operational efficiency and a state-of-the-art learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Five years’ experience working in faculty development and/or teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Experience teaching in a variety of formats (face-to-face, online, hybrid).
  • Direct experience in consulting/coaching faculty.
  • Direct experience using AI/AR/VR to improve teaching and learning.
  • Experience using data to make informed decisions and create action plans.
  • Ability to manage and lead change effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience with onboarding new faculty.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree.
  • Teaching experience at a community/technical college.
  • Leadership experience at a community/technical college.
